Privacy Policy
Reader privacy should not feel like a trick. This page explains what information is connected to your Reader Club account, why it is there, who uses it, and what choices you have as a reader.
The short version: your information is used only by me, Elizabeth Ann West, and the staff who help me run my author business. I do not sell, rent, trade, or farm out your reader information to advertisers, data brokers, or outside marketing lists. I use a few practical services to make the website, email list, and direct-store pieces work, and I explain those below in plain English.
What your account stores
Reader Club stores your email address, subscription consent, login/session records, mature-content confirmation when needed, your reader name and avatar color if you choose them, chapter ratings you leave, and limited reading events such as book started, chapter read, audio played, or store link clicked.
Why I use it
I use this information to open free subscriber chapters, send book updates, protect Rated R content, save your reading progress, remember your Reader Club profile, fix and improve the site, and understand which books or direct editions readers are interested in.
Who uses it
Me, Elizabeth Ann West, and the staff who work directly with me can use Reader Club information to run this site and care for readers. Your reader information is not sold, rented, traded, or handed to outside companies for advertising profiles. It is not used to train AI tools or to build marketing profiles about you.
The tools I use
A few services help run the reader experience:
- Brevo is the email service I use for book-update subscriptions, confirmation emails, and secure login links.
- HostGator is the web host where the reader website and secure reader database live.
- Plausible Analytics is a privacy-friendly, cookieless stats tool that shows broad website traffic patterns, such as page views and how readers found the site.
- Curios handles direct sales when a direct edition is available, so checkout and order details are handled through that store system. I personally know the founders of Curios, Greg and Grant, and I am comfortable naming the platform plainly so you know who is involved when you buy direct.
What I do not collect
Reader Club does not collect passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, or unnecessary personal details. Reading activity is limited to what helps your account work, keeps protected content protected, and helps me understand the site at a practical author level.
Your choices
You can view your access status and turn off personalization from the reader account page. You can change your reader name and avatar color there too. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe option. You can also contact Elizabeth Ann West to ask about access, correction, or deletion.
Chapter ratings
Chapter ratings are available only when you are logged in. They help me understand which scenes readers respond to without requiring public comments, public reviews, or moderation drama.
Analytics
Plausible Analytics shows aggregate website stats, not individual reading profiles. It helps me see things like which pages are visited, how people find the site, and what devices or browsers are common. It does not set tracking cookies or follow you across other websites.
Security
Login uses email links instead of passwords. Private security keys are stored outside the public website. Protected chapter text and protected audio are kept outside the public web folder. Reader Club information is kept only as long as it is useful for your account, the email list, site security, or normal business records.
